Grade and Conditions vs Effective Power

Purpose | Screen Images | Data Description | Function Descriptions | How to Use

Purpose:

A Consist with nominal horsepower on a level grade must be discounted for grade and track conditions. This tabpage is use to create various power discounting scenarios that can be applied to a train consist.

Screen Images:

Data Description:

Scenario ID - unique string defining the scenario

Various grades that reduce the effective horsepower available from the consist power

Function Descriptions:

The calculator on the left was discussed in the September 2002 issue of Model Railroader. This is just an example of how one might compensate for grade and speed. We are still looking for various ways to capture scenarios that reflect prototype situations.

How to Use:

Not applied to trains in the current version of MRRM. We envision a random event generator activated by the Railroad Superintendent during an Operations Session. These events will require crews and staff to adapt to such conditions and incidents. You ideas are welcome!
