Original factory paint in Guards Red with original black canvas fold down top, and having original linen (color: G1V9) leather seats plus room for 2 more in back with the small seats. It has sporty 16'' Fuchs wheels and presents in excellent overall condition. Purchased from Tischer Motors of Silver Spring Maryland in November 1989. Always garaged. Rarely seen rain. Exterior:
Black accent trim are well preserved in a deep black with little fading. Neoprene bumpers are the same color as the bodywork, as are the side view mirrors. Original black canvas top with a clear plastic lightweight rear view window shows it age. It
moves up and down easily but has three small patches over roof stressed points. A black whale tail overhangs the engine "hood" in the rear. A federally mandated 3rd brake light has been renewed. 16-inch
Forged Alloy wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped with hard to find, factory spec conforming, front 205/55 R16 tire and back 225/50 R16 rubber installed in 2022. Electrically adjustable outside mirrors. Front and rear spoilers. Some minor patina on the car (dings, scratches, wear).
Interior:
Sleek doors reveals linen leather panel coverings with armrests, covered storage bins, power window switches and manual door locks. Well preserved high back linen (off-white) leather buckets grab your body, and have full power functions for the driver's seat. The black leather covered dash has no cracks, and presents a set of clear round sweep gauges. In the center dash are the heat and AC sliders and an aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD radio. A
center console angles downward from the center dash and houses the shifter, and handbrake with a few other buttons and turn knobs. Behind the high back buckets are two small fold down seats, also in leather. Clean off-white carpeting covers the floors and all are protected by floor mats.
A black tonneau covering is available for the top when in the down position. Power Windows. Air conditioner. Original leather covered Sport steering Wheel. Automated speed control.
Mechanicals:
Opening up the back ''hood'' reveals a clean and well maintained 3.2 liter boxer 6 cylinder powerhouse. It has Bosch Motronic EFI and a Getrag 5-speed manual all stuffed into this engine bay.
Kept in top mechanical condition.
In September 2019, A/C was restored.
Major service in March 2020 at 70.6K miles. Removed complete engine assembly. Repaced clutch and flywell. Installed new pilot bearing. Replaced valve cover gaskets. Replaced spark plugs, wires, ignition cap and rotor. Replaced oil cooler seals. Installed new sump gasket. Replaced breather plate gasket. New cam retainer seal. Installed new timing cover gasket. Installed cam position sensor. Installed updated guide tube. Installed new engine compartment liner. Installed new rear shock absorbers. Installed new rear axles and boots. Installed completed engine. Rebuilt shifter assembly.
In 2022, Fuel system restored including fuel pressure regulators and fuel dampeners.
Drive-Ability:
Nicely preserved from 1987 and still looking much like its contemporaries, maybe a little less aero looking but it's a classic Porsche Carrera look with its rounded higher front quarters and the iconic rear. Plus you have the advantage of the Cabriolet option and additional jump seats in the back so take the kids along for the thrill ride. Still a fabulous car; it can
