Keystone Trains

                          Running Trains is the point of all this. We operate many types of trains or Train Archetypes if you will. Each Train Archetype has its own rules. The Train Archetypes are grouped into Classes. Each Class has a Train number range available to it. These numbers often follow a convention that they run East-West and West-East only (or North-South and South-North only) regardless of the actual geography of the trackwork. We use East and West point-to-point flows. We use even numbers if the flow is eastbound (West-East) trains and odd numbers if the flow is westbound.

We have five major and two minor Class of train. They are from the highest priority down: Passenger, Manifest/Fast, Unit, Way, Local, Maintenance of Way (MOW), and Wreck.

Train Numbers by Rail Class

The following Trains list is still under development at this time but shows where we are headed. Buyer/Seller driven workloads will force us to refine the trains, stops and (daily) schedules for Regular Trains. Here is where we stand at this time;

Local Trains (5th Class)

Local Trains move full or empty (MT) freight cars between the yard and the industries it serves. We schedule an average of 30 fast minutes per car for pickup or setout. Some more time is needed when a run around is required. A little less is needed for a trailing point siding setout or pickup. The locals we run are:
