| Car Order Queue | List of rolling stock car types ordered by one yard from all the other yards on the layout |
| Car Order Status | Status is set to Ordered when placed by the requesting yard. Status is changed to Sending when the providing yard initiates a shipment of the car to the requesting yard. |
| City Code | Abbreviated name of a city or town. |
| CityTown | A city or town |
| Class (Priority) | Priority of the train types supported by MRRM. 1St class is reserved for passenger trains. 2nd class is used for Fast freights (also known as manifest and sometimes as through freights). 3rd class is for Way freights. 4th class is for local freights. No other classes are supported at this time |
| Commodity | Goods produced and shipped by rail or other mode of transportation |
| Consignee | An industry that order goods from a supplier and receives these good, typically by rail car |
| Consist | A Train comprising at least one locomotive. If multiple locomotive are used, the lead locomotive is specified as well as all of the slave locomotives. |
| Destination Train or Interchange | The yard or interchange stop ID where the train ends it travels |
| Dispatcher Advance Train to Next Stop | Dispatcher advances train from the current stop to the next stop |
| Dispatcher Loco Icon (Start Train) | Dispatcher clicks Loco icon button to begin train operation |
| Dispatcher Quick Run | Dispatcher clicks this button to immediately run the train from start to end and acknowledge its completion. Typically used when batched switchlists are used instead of dispatcher using console during real time session operations. |

| Fast Freight Train | Moves full or empties along a route from one yard to any other yard or interchange reachable by a contiguous path. |
| Goods Preferred IC Name | Interchange reserved for advanced configurations. |
| Goods: Batch Order Car Delta | randomly modifies the number of cars requested or produced per batch |
| Goods: Batch Order Cars | Number of car loads produced per shippers batch or requested per consignees order |

| Industry | A business that uses your railroad to ship its products to its customers or receives its raw materials from its vendors |
| Industry GMT | Greenwich Mean Time used to indicate Industry wide clock. Standardizing on GMT supports multiple time zone Internet feature |
| Interchange | Location where rail heads from two or more railroad divisions meet. Cars may be transferred from one locomotive consist to another. Cars may be setout by one train for pick up by another train possibly at a much later time. |
| Interchange Home Division | Division having a yard closest to the interchange |
| Intermodal | A facility that supports the movement of goods between rail and truck, aircraft or ships |
| Inventory | Collection of rolling stock, sidings, turnouts, divisions, citytowns, industries, buildings, interchanges, intermodal facilities, or miscellaneous layout objects such as air/sea/road vehicles, scenery, platforms, or wiring/electronic components comprising you railroad. |
| Lading | Commodities carried by rail or other mode of transportation |
| Latitude Longitude | A point on the earth. Used for internet operations |
| Local Freight Train | Train that serves a specific collection of industries. Usually runs out from the yard and returns to the yard. Can be defined to serve all Citytowns in its area or just selected ones. Brings empties to Shippers, full back to yard, fulls from yard to Consignees, empties from Consignees |
| Locomotive Lead/Slave | Lead locomotive is DCC mode specifies decoder equipped locomotive that leads the other MUd locomotives |
| Maintenance | Scheduled or unscheduled work needed to keep your railroad operational. Unscheduled actions can be tracked. Using rolling stock on dispatcher run trains increments the usage counter for each piece of rolling stock. Preventative maintenance can be triggered by usage count or by time duration. |
| Manifest | Collection of Waybills assigned to a specific train |
| Manifest # | Digital number assigned to a manifest. |
| Manifest Current Stop | Automatically managed. Shows Dispatcher where the train is currently (last) stopped |

| Manifest Status | Tracks each trains progress from initial waybill assignments to train run completion. When cars are added to a manifest, the status becomes RSassigned. When the sequence of stops for the train is assigned, the status becomes MnfstDraft. When the baseline schedule times are computed for this stop sequence, the status becomes BaseSched. When the actual train start time is computed, the status becomes ActualSchd. When the Switchlist for the train is computed, the status becomes Ready2Roll. When the Dispatcher authorizes the train to start, the status becomes Running. When the train competes its run, the status becomes Completed.. In future release, when the Dispatcher orders the Train to Stop, the status will become Stopped as in weather constrains, accidents, or other emergencies. |

| Picture File(name) | name of the file storing a picture or image of some part of your railroad. JPEG and GIF files can also be used with a website built with MRRM. Files are stored in the pix subdirectory of MRRM. |

| Scenery | Various materials, stains, paints which, on your railroad, mimic a real life scene |
| Schedule Arrival Time | Time, based on a 00:00 start, that a train will arrive at a given stop |
| Schedule Departure Time | Time, based on a 00:00 start, that a train will depart from a given stop |
| Schedule Dwell Time | Time a train waits after arriving at this stop and before departing for the next stop |

| Service Yard | A yard serving a specific and unique collection of industries in a geographic area. |
| Shipment # of car loads | Number of cars comprising a shipment. If only some cars are available for a shipment, the shipment is divided into two shipments. Available cars are kept with the original shipment. The missing cars are ordered from other yards. When all ordered cars arrive at the requesting yard, a second shipment is initiated using the cars received from other yards. Returning empties can get tricky but is managed by MRRM |

| Shipment Freight Forwarder | Party responsible for coordinating car orders for a shipper and consignee. |
| Shipment Leg | Shipments generally take several movements for Shippers to deliver full cars to Consignees. Each move will typically be performed by a distinct train. In advanced operations movements may be made by truck, air, or sea transportation mode. |
| Shipment Leg # | Number of a train move. Leg zero is reserved for moving the requested number of empties from the current car locations to the shippers specified stop. Leg 99 is reserved for moving the empties from the Consignees specified stop to the Consignees service yard. Legs 1 to 98 specify the moves needed to move loaded cars from shipper to consignee. Generally leg 1 moves full cars from the shippers dock to its service yard. Leg 2 moves full cars from this service yard to the Consignees service yard, if that yard is the same as the Shippers service yard. Otherwise leg 2 moves the full car to the Consignees service yard via Way or Fast freight train as appropriate. If the Consignee service yard is many interchanges away, multiple shipment legs are required to move the goods. |

| Shipment Status | Shipment status progresses from Pending, possibly to Car Ordered, to In Process and then Completed. A shipment is pending when the Shipper accepts an order from a Consignee. If the railroad has no cars currently at the shippers industrial siding not in the home yard than the car or cars must be ordered from other yards in the same division or from foreign yards in other divisions. After the needed empty cars are assigned to a shipment, the shipment status changes to In Process. Empties are shipped to the shipper if needed and movement of empties from the consignee to the car home yard are provisioned. When all legs of an In Process shipment are completed, the shipment status is changed to Completed. |
